Job Summary
The Manager of Media Relations for Riddell Sports will be responsible for developing and executing proactive and reactive external communications, media relations and social media strategies aimed at positioning the Riddell brand and its products as technologically advanced and innovative. The position will be the key point of contact for traditional news media and will seize opportunities to drive key messages through online media. Key driver of success: ability to plan, pursue and engage traditional and online media in generating positive recognition for Riddell’s market leadership and innovative products.
Essential Job Functions
• Serves as Riddell’s key point of contact for traditional and online media
• When necessary, may serve as a company spokesperson on behalf of the Riddell brand and its products
• Develops news releases, Q&As, key messages, etc. regarding announcements, product launches and brand initiatives
• Maintains Riddell’s social media channels on Facebook, Twitter, You Tube and other key platforms by developing an editorial calendar and writing and posting regular updates
• Monitors social media channels for fan questions and feedback and responds accordingly
• Develops proactive traditional and online media campaigns to tell the Riddell story to target audiences
• Collaborates with Corporate Communications peers and key Marketing contacts in developing external communications strategies for Riddell
Education and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, English, Marketing or related field required
• 7+ years of experience with demonstrated track record of achievement
• Experienced in traditional media relations, including pitching stories and conducting interviews
• Experienced in creating and executing a social media strategy that builds a fan base, increases engagement and drives sales
• Strong, established contacts with traditional and online sports media
