May 12, 2021 Tell us about the best design piece from Tap Inwas my favorite project 3 years ago and today it remains #1 in my list
your portfolio. of "best work." Tap In, which I created as my Senior Capstone at Champlain
College, is a hands-on campaign that targeted craft brewers who had not
invested in branding or designers. There is some serious competition out
there with breweries popping up every which way, making a strong brand
all the more imperative.
With this idea, I decided to create a selection of beers along with a tap
handle for a visual representation of what various cans could look like when
considering everything you would in a brand: audience, color, typography,
spirit, message. I fabricated everything shown on my own using large format
adhesive-backed printing, a CNC router, and a laser engraver.
One reason I believe I still feel so proud of this work was due to conceptualizing this idea and doing the process myself from start to finish.
Where do you find inspiration? Short answer: everywhere. One of the best aspects of design in 2021 is
design is everywhere you look--streets, houses, gardens, yoga sequences,
ski resorts, menus, cameras, backpacks. As a creative person, I don't have to think twice about examining the stitching of a jacket at REI. Inspiration is all
around us at all times. I am just a person who has the priviledge of noticing it.
What makes you a good designer? What makes me a good designer is my ability to wear many hats, and wear
them well, in a role. I am comfortable working within perimeters of style
guides, under pressure or intense deadlines, and as a friendly team member.
What makes me a great designer is my ability to push a brand's boundaries and create meaningful work that resonates with audiences.
Why do you want to work for I am yet another transplant who came to Denver looking for the same thing:
Topo Designs? city life and access to the mountains. All my favorite things to do are outside.
Working for Topo Designs would mean bringing a sense of my passion to people looking for ways to enhance their outdoor experiences. I would love to bring my hard-working energy to your team and create thoughtf ul brand
experiences to keep your consumers coming back for more.
