Quality Engineer/Supervisor (Promoted to Supervisor in 2013) 1. Supervise the daily activities of Quality Assurance group. * Developed direct reports into roles of increased responsibility and implemented a succession plan to replace those key employees. Current plans include moving an inspector with over 20 years experience into an exempt production control position. * Established daily goals and an SAP query that reported productivity performance to our inspection team and management. Counseled employees when objectives were not met. 2. Management representative of our ISO 9001 registered Quality Management System. * Revised our entire Quality Management System after merger in July 2014 and secured new registrar for our NC & OH facilities. * Drive Corrective Action system to ensure each request is documented, effective, and completed in a timely manner. When necessary elevate Corrective Action requests to achieve proper resolution. * Manage our Internal Audit program by developing audit schedules, approving audit reports, and providing guidance when questions arise concerning interpretation of the standard. 3. Prepare and distribute monthly Quality Report communicating our group's performance. * Revised existing format that focused solely on production based metrics to a balanced scorecard approach that included delivery and customer complaint metrics. This change involved revamping an existing Microsoft Access database and writing a series of new SAP queries and merging that data into a separate database for further manipulation. Other groups in our company have since adopted this layout. * Our reporting has captured management's attention and spurred improvement projects that have since improved process capability and curbed our losses. Project is ongoing and to date we have unfortunately not realized >1.0 Cpk. 4. Conduct product return and claim investigations and prepare detailed reports for our customers. * Reports include problem statement, investigation findings, root cause analysis, and corrective and preventative actions. In some cases provide a formal 8D analysis. * By the end of my second year as Quality Supervisor our customer returns dropped by 57.5% year-over-year. Design Engineer - Steel Production Profit Center & Indexable Insert Design 1. Designed application specific Indexable Insert and Toolholder assemblies for high volume precision machining customers. * Managed the Steel Production profit center, from new product design, inspection, to finished product packaging. * In 2005, I traveled to our parent company in Japan and spent two weeks studying Indexable Drill design, manufacturing, and inspection techniques. * Within one year our group was able to develop a group of new suppliers with advanced 5-axis machining capabilities and transfer our entire line of drills from Japan to local manufactures. Because of my efforts, the Steel Production profit centers' production increased 40%.
