As the Store Manager of REI in Albuquerque, NM I have been able to achieve success in many areas. Through hard work both personally and through my team we have achieved record annual sales of over $18.1 million, led a team of five Retail Sales Managers with 70 staff, and given over $100,000 in grants to fund the development of trails in New Mexico. My most significant accomplishment however, is a “Cycle Refresh” strategy I created and implemented in 2015. My team focused on authentic visual storytelling, shop expertise, and customer connections with local cycling venues. In store, we achieved 400% growth in bike unit sales and connected thousands of customers with local cycling experiences. I now sit on REI’s “Cycling Advisory Committee and have been part of creating a pilot in the Denver market based off of the successful strategy implemented in Albuquerque.

Created whole store vision and inspire its implementation through the management team. I ensured company objectives were delivered on, drove key store metrics through my retail management team, and fostered a team environment centered around actively engaging all staff and managers. - Drove market Footwear sales by +15% y/y through creation and support of the Chicago Market’s first market wide customer service goal. All market Store Managers were engaged in creating a consistent shopping experience and level of service in their stores. - Partnered with Retail VP, Marketing, and peer Store Managers to launch a targeted marketing investment of $150,000 with the goal of driving brand awareness, member saturation, and retail traffic. - Worked personally and through the store management team to inspire growth and development of future leaders. This work resulted in three management promotions in two years.

Main responsibilities included assisting the Store Manager with creating and implementing store vision, creating the annual store budget, driving key store metrics through Supervisors, developing future leaders, and keeping REI a special place to work.

Main tasks as a supervisor included ensuring daily operation of the retail store, planning for and setting sales goals, effectively coaching, developing, and motivating staff, as well as supporting the REI Visual Program.
