Visual Merchandiser and Buyer

I have worked in retail for almost five years, and maintained a position in upper management for the last three. Currently I am working at a local skate/surf shop in my  downtown area, I have been with the team for over a year now. It's a shop that's been around since 89'. I am developing as a merchandiser and buyer, however; I am interested in all aspects of the skateboarding industry. 

At Waterboyz I communicate with brand representatives and handle all inventory management pertaining to the skate portion of the shop. I am beginning to learn the financial aspects as well. I make final decisions on all incoming product based on the current trends within the skateboarding community, and stay up-to-date locally and nationally. 

I started as an associate and worked my way up through each position and was offered the store after about three years. While at Zumiez I learned how to train others, develop a staff, interview new hires, manage scheduling and other operational tasks, as well as the ins and outs of visual merchandising.
