Branding the Final Show of Black Sabbath

Back to the beginning — one last time.
One final rite.

You don’t always know you’re witnessing history —
not until years later… when you’re asked to brand it.

No campaign. No mood board.
Just legacy — loud as thunder —
and the quiet weight of knowing: this is the last time.

I was asked to brand the farewell.
Not with flash. Not with flair.
But with reverence.
Stage visuals. 
Custom drumheads.
Commemorative sticks —
lacquered with the pulse of something eternal.

These weren’t promotional assets.
They were instruments of war.
Built to echo through the archives…
and mark the tomb of the God of Thunder.

With the direction of Walter Earl,
I took the sacred symbols of Sabbath —
the wordmark, the iconic Henry —
and placed them across the heads and sticks
that would seal the rite.

We entombed his kit.
Every head. Every strike, etched in time.
Sealed to memory —
by the hand that helped close the book.

This wasn’t marketing.
This was ritual.

The lineage began for me on the Ozzfest 2004 bus —
a moment of chaos and mystique
that somehow marked me for this task,
twenty-one years later.

And yes — Chris Fehn bore witness.
A drummer in exile.
A soul who understands what it means
to be cut from the noise…
yet still carry the rhythm.

From Bill to Chris…
to the birth of William G. Fehn —
the rhythm lives on.

This isn’t nostalgia.
This is lineage.

Even the ID tags — created quietly for the inner circle —
drew reverent praise.
That tells you everything
about the spirit behind this exit.

To Bill. To Walter. To Chris.
To Ludwig, Sabian, ProMark, Evans — and Aaron at D’Addario:
Thank you for the trust.

We didn’t design a drum kit.
We sealed a chapter.
And somewhere in the archives of thunder…
the echo remains.

This wasn’t branding in the modern sense.
This was ritual branding —
the kind that etches memory into myth,
not just message into market.

Some build funnels.
We sealed a tomb.

Temporary contract engagement to design and deliver the complete UX foundation for the Setlist Shop e-commerce platform. Created end-to-end wireframes, defined information architecture, user flows, and scalable component systems, and developed full interface designs in both light and dark mode to support retail launch and future product expansion.

Built and structured the supporting product ecosystem, including packaging systems, production-ready dielines, merchandise bundles, and cross-platform visual assets aligned to the digital commerce experience. Ensured cohesion between physical product, digital interface, and brand presentation.

In parallel, contributed to executive-level brand refinements and leadership-facing presentations, helping articulate strategic positioning, system evolution, and rollout visibility across cross-functional stakeholders. Operated at the intersection of design execution and executive communication.

 Independent Brand and Visual Designer

Independent brand and identity practice delivering scalable brand systems, campaign frameworks, and multi-channel assets across hospitality, healthcare, professional services, and entertainment sectors. Lead visual positioning, identity architecture, and cross-platform implementation spanning digital, print, packaging, motion, and AI-enabled production workflows.

Operate at both strategic and execution levels—developing identity frameworks, presentation environments, and launch assets while remaining hands-on across web, experiential, and high-visibility initiatives. Selected milestone includes designing and producing final-stage visual systems for Bill Ward of Black Sabbath’s farewell performance (Birmingham, July 2025), supporting branding for the highest-grossing charity concert of all time ($190M+).

Senior Brand Designer | Identity Strategist

Developed scalable brand systems, national marketing campaigns, and enterprise asset libraries for a leading insurance and retirement provider supporting 70+ marketing organizations and 300,000+ agents. Partnered with marketing leadership to align visual identity across digital, print, and presentation environments under high-volume production timelines.

Contributed to web and UX initiatives including landing page structure, interface refinement, and user-focused layout optimization supporting marketing performance and digital engagement. Balanced strategic brand development with hands-on execution across distributed teams.

Senior Brand Design Specialist

KPMG, one of the Big Four professional services firms, operates one of the largest design and production ecosystems in the U.S. I was brought on by KPMG’s Creative Services leaders to support the Office of the CFO during the firm’s remote transition period at the height of the pandemic. Embedded within the full creative and production system, I developed presentations, interactive reports, and internal communication materials for executive leadership and finance teams. Much of my work focused on producing complex, data-driven decks and white papers that required precision, consistency, and speed under tight deadlines.

Managed a continuous pipeline of 50+ active projects each week, collaborating daily with RR Donnelley on print and digital production while coordinating schedules and revisions with KPMG’s India-based design teams. Focused on maintaining brand precision, layout integrity, and compliance across all deliverables. Contributed creative assets to the firm’s “Grow” inclusion campaign and received the KPMG Bravo Award (2021) from the Office of the CFO for creative lead excellence.

Contract engagement supporting global brand identity implementation, digital campaigns, and multi-channel marketing systems for one of the world’s largest hospitality groups. Delivered scalable creative assets across web, print, video, social, and experiential platforms while maintaining strict adherence to enterprise brand standards and production timelines.

Contributed to UX/UI initiatives across Wyndham’s digital ecosystem, designing interface layouts, reusable UI components, landing page structures, and campaign-driven web experiences in collaboration with marketing and development teams. Focused on component consistency, responsive design logic, and user flow refinement to support performance, clarity, and cross-platform scalability.

Lead Digital Designer

Advanced from the mailroom to become the C-Suite’s trusted creative gopher before taking the reins of production design and art direction for HITS Magazine — one of the music industry’s most influential and closely watched trade publications.

Drove visual execution of layouts, covers, editorial features, campaigns, and branded content across print and emerging digital platforms, aligning with the magazine’s bold, irreverent voice and elite clientele. Contributed to issues and ad campaigns that shaped industry perception and propelled global icons like Eminem, Madonna, Lenny Kravitz, Metallica, and more. Played a key role in transitioning HITS into the early internet era, contributing design and structural support for multiple web properties, including two distinct HITS online platforms as the publication expanded into digital distribution.
