As Program Configuration Management Specialist, my duties include but not limited to managing/coordinating of the Software Engineering Division and Software Maintenance Group weapon system software, hardware, programs and systems, and Configuration all assets, and documentation.
Performs as focal point to analyze planning and programming documents, including Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM), Project Document (PD), Project Requirements Document (PRD), Integrated Project Plan (IPP), Avionics Software Requirements Review Council (ASRRC), Multiple Cockpit Review Team (MCRT) 1, MCRT 2 (120% Candidate List Freeze), MCRT 3 (Candidate List and Pilot Vehicle Interface (PVI) Freeze) and System Functional Review (SFR). These documents define the management tasks and include the effort to develop, maintain and submit appropriate schedules and metrics charts; operation of a management information gathering system, control, participation in, and direct support of all technical and programmatic meetings such as program management reviews, technical direction/technical interchange meetings and working groups.
Manages Project Planning documents in accordance with proper configuration management directives, policies, procedures, and guidelines established within configuration management, the group, and Air Force regulations.
Places project planning documents under configuration control, manages, reports, and tracks configured items throughout the lifecycle of the document and once the peer review process begins and through final approval.
Documents, plans, and organizes project schedules. Coordinates with required stakeholders to evaluate and negotiate project schedules to reflect milestones or events in accordance with the customer’s needs and budgetary availability. Places project schedules under configuration control once the peer review process starts with required stakeholders through final approval. Ensures adequate time is allotted to configuration management team to properly prepare deliverables and achieve scheduled milestone releases. Milestones include Test Readiness Reviews (TRR) and Functional Configuration Audit/Physical Configuration Audits (FCA/PCAs).
Manages and configures Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs) which are requested after initial requirements have been determined. Promptly evaluates and analyzes documents received from engineers to identify and effectively establish new budget estimates, determine impact on project schedule, ensures there are no conflicts with other projects, and recommends program changes if needed.
Focal point for all new Rough Order Magnitude (ROMs). Works directly with program office to establish and approve new workload or changes to an existing workload. Provides budget estimates, manpower estimates, funding restrictions, negotiates program contracts and agreements, and determines schedule releases that will not conflict with projects that are currently being worked.
Works directly with the Software Program Office (SPO) to determine customer needs, evaluate and prepare proposed budget needs and funding allocation, gathers data to present to the customer, and oversees all documents, deliverables, and materials satisfy the requirements of the customer while maintaining mission and data integrity to the Configuration Management group.
Utilizes numerous UNIX and Windows based support tools, such as Project Tracking Tool (TRACK), Repository Document Management (RDM), QuickSilver/QuickSilver Scripts, Configuration Archive File Manager (CAFMAN), Adobe Acrobat X Pro, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Project, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Access, Roxio (Creator Business DVD), McAfee, Compusec Tool, Security Tool Box, to manage and configure computer-based project data. Utilizes these tools to track changes, create baselines, performs revision tracking. Establishes and maintains set of libraries, methods and techniques used to capture, store, and promote or release the items of each type of library in a controlled manner, manages and analyzes the lifecycle of configured projects.
Provides Configuration Management Tracking by using the Project Tracking Tool (TRACK). Expertly manages, updates, modifies, and maintains TRACK as a status accounting tool, manages configured SPAR (Software Problem Anomaly Report) and TPAR (Test Procedure Anomaly Report), Change Request process flow, collects metrics, and provides status accounting reports.
Regularly briefs management communicates and coordinates between all organizational levels. Reports to management status accounting of configured items, tracked and maintained hardware and software, utilizes this information for monthly program management reviews (PMR).
