Hello! I’m Dirk, helping create software experiences as a multi-disciplinary product designer, 14 years design practice, 10 years product focusing on Human Computer Interaction design for native OS, react native, web applications, and establishing to maintaining design ecosystems. Current industry focus on AI Research in Language, Computer Vision. Previously designing true end-to-end iOT hardware experience, Financial Merchant Software, Automotive Manufacturing Diagnostics, E-commerce Retail, Social Media, Data/Analytics dashboards, and Editor tools.

Led design on high-impact AI research projects in Meta AI’s CICERO, NLLB, Segment Anything, Protein, Neural Network training, DINO v2.

CICERO, interactive redesign of the game Diplomacy with fully responsive react native web approach. Milestone set to increase user base, establish interactive game play, and improve interaction behavior supporting competitive game play in apt to collect data to improve neural network performance milestones. Contribution with research teams in our end milestone of Publication in Science (co-authorship); Human-level play in the game of Diplomacy by combining language models with strategic reasoning.

NLLB, language translation model for low resource languages, foundational narrative and vision creation, helping inform future FOA product integration, Product centric UX research, partnering with UXR studies to uncover insights in wikipedia integration, assisted launch team for public campaign, early adoption of Meta’s re-brand and design system into NLLB Stories Demo. Large merge support into Seamless Communication, creating translation concepts for VR Horizon Worlds, speech translation app, and supporting research evaluation tooling. 

Segment Anything, in-browser computer vision segmentation. Establishing narrative and visionary to launch public demonstration. Re-imagining segmentation in a guided user experience, integrating Meta brand into narrative alongside establishing ui patterns for demo, interaction design and animation - working closely with engineering partners to quickly iterate and conceptualize various depths of functionalities and responsive react web.

Design at Phyn has consisted of levels of learning, experimentation, and pushing to find ways we can better communicate through our brand and products by human centered design. I’ve been given the opportunity to create an enterprise scale design ecosystem for a global market, successfully designing digital products for both iOS and Android, as well as, a complete design system for our marketing website and ecommerce experience plus localization. I’ve helped art direct who Phyn is today as a brand. We've been able to build the brand, and the product, with the highest quality possible in such a short period of time from the ground. My intent has been and always will be, to better the brand, the product, and help guide the people who believe, use, and trust our products, to better their lives, and help the world be a part of something bigger, together.

Visual Design Lead

Hired with the expectations to create visual user interface for software, including Groovv SDK, which is a guided payment device configuration tool that set up, connects and troubleshoots your payment devices and gateway network. After 3 months, succeeding in the launch of their fully functional SDK installer and connection wizard, I was hired as a senior visual designer overseeing the user experience, user interface of our software systems, responsive web design, animation, packaging design, print design, iconography, typography, and establish ui brand guidelines.

As a User Interface designer at Weezlabs, I worked directly with many amazing clients to help build and refine their dreams from creating their brand personality to launching in the App Store. Clients bring in their ideas, and we helped to work out the best possible product solutions for maximum mvp. One of the most notable, Tumbleweed, was my first app featured in the App Store alongside editors choice. From gaining priceless knowledge of iOS design language, material design, android, lollipop, agile, scrum, Atlassian Jira, and managing multiple projects to building  full scale app enabled business, the immense growth as a design professional has centered my focus on branding and product design.

Duties and responsibilities consisted of creating a business relationship of continuity through formulating creative solutions and strategies followed by extensive Interactive User experience and user interface research. Our detailed workshops molded the minds of many talented individuals of intelligence setting out to develop an agile build strategy for our clients. UX/UI Designer

While working for DevBridge Group, I've had the opportunity to architect and design experiences for a range of clients such as Microsoft and Monotype. Although Information Architecture wasn't my strongest point throughout the projects, it has always struck me with interest. It was made apparent  that when it comes to less complex systems, wire frames and the architecture of a digital solution is more practical. 

As for user interface, I've grown with my design sense in apt to utilize whitespace and CSS3 conscious elements. Keeping things subtle, to the point and harnessing simplicity into a conglomerate of consistent design language.

Junior Visual Designer

Within the Pharmacy affiliates, several companies had gone through a brand image transformation. In this shift, we re-imagined the brands and websites for each company, including evil lizard, brand stitch, medfast, national sign, pittsburgh brick, pharmacy gpo, and pharmacy podcast. This kick start to my career had helped tremendously in research and execution of experimental design that lead to a better understanding of industry standards.
