Process Engineer | 10/2013 - Current
Providing technical engineering support for current plant expansion (110K sq. ft. expansion)
Project manager for 2 different types of 60” web filming machines and one 60” Prepreg machine
Provided required specifications to meet the standards of our production process
Reviewed overall machine design throughout the design phase and factory acceptance test making modifications to improve the production process, prevent safety hazards, etc.
Created/tracking 4+ month installation schedules of each machine
Coordinating with contractors (general, electrical, plumbing, etc.) as well as foreign machine manufacturers to complete installation
Preparing schedule/ for Mechanical Runs to begin in mid-June
Material handling processes to and from the filming area that will comply with the new AGV roll retrieval system
Designed AGV pallets for two different types of product rolls
Product rolls vary in weight, core type, etc.
Performed FEA analysis to determine maximum deflects, fatigue stress, & safety factor for each type of pallet
Installed 170’ 5-bridge workstation crane with custom rigid arm spreader beams to eliminate the need for forklifts to load/unload film rolls from our current 60” filming machines
Same method will be applied to machines currently being installed
Method will allow for future expansion of AGV usage throughout the plant
Process improvements/projects focusing on machines in the filming (coating) area
Completed training/obtained certification as a Filming technician in order to gain knowledge on the machines I would be working with
Used feedback from machine operators to design/execute projects to improve machine usability, safety, etc.
Various safety projects in all areas of the plant
Hoist interlocks, light curtain/photo-eye sensor installation, small design projects/part modifications
Leader of the High Performance Energy Management (HPEM) team
Installation of KE2 Controllers and Electronic Expansion Valves (EEVs) in multiple freezers
LED lighting upgrade project
Applied to new plant expansion
Planning to retrofit current machine and building lighting
Currently monitoring power to justify upgrading three chillers used for HVAC and machine process water
Working with Energy Smart Industrial and TPU to track reduced energy usage, determine ROI, and receive incentives on projects
Communication/awareness of energy usage throughout the plant
Developing system to track MTBF of equipment in the Filming and Finishing departments
Identified problematic equipment using work order history
Creating system in Infor to generate quarterly and annual reports of repairs/failures
