Elizabeth Palmquist: Social Media Manager & Special Events Specialist

In the recreation department at the City of Charleston, I assist in social media, email, and web marketing efforts. Additionally, I help develop a strategic messaging calendar and create, design and distribute marketing materials as needed. I also collect quantitative and qualitative data from marketing campaigns, programs, and events. Finally, I photograph and video record aspects of special events.

During my time with Morgan Julia Designs, I manage and maintain a social media content calendar while designing branded assets including email graphics, website banners, and Pinterest visuals. I write SEO-optimized blog posts focused on needlepoint and regularly update and organize the Shopify homepage. I also handle the uploading and tagging of user-generated content through SocialPhotos, analyze performance metrics to create monthly content reports, and lead our Pinterest strategy and scheduling. Additionally, I create short-form video content, such as stitching clips, for the website and actively monitor and engage with our Instagram community through DMs, tags, and comments.

During my internship at Southern Tide, I have been working on a number of different projects such as product description, blog copy as well as manage and organize hundreds of product samples for lookbook and e-commerce photoshoots.

At the YMCA of Greenville, I served as a Certified Group Fitness Instructor and would teach a number of different classes to a small group of participants once a week. The format of classes I taught included pilates, TRX and high intensity interval training. By teaching a variety of different workouts, I learned how to adapt to the needs of the participants and still be successful.

Over the summer of 2024, I had the opportunity to study abroad in London through Clemson University's Graphic Communications Department. While in London, I researched and studied graphic design for packaging in the global marketplace. We analyzed the international differences in the packaging and how these differences play a role in the success or failure of the brand expanding across the globe. During this process, we had the opportunity to work with Pi Global, a global brand and design consultancy to learn from active industry professionals about the European marketplace and receive feedback on our own package designs.

While interning at Stingray Branding, I was in charge of completing a number of different tasks which helped to further my experience. During my internship, I was in charge of completing web updates for client websites as well as updating their website software on the back-end through WordPress. I became proficient in using Mailchimp to create newsletters for businesses and I also became proficient in Eventbrite to create events for businesses. During my time at Stingray Branding, I was able to learn more about compartmentalizing because I would typically work on one project in the morning and then switch to another project in the afternoon.

At Clemson Fitness Company, I served as a Certified Group Fitness Instructor and would teach high intensity interval training classes to a small group of participants once a week. Each week, I would create different workouts for the participants and I would think of possible modifications for each exercise. Creating these workouts allowed me to learn about the importance of planning ahead.
