Overseeing a team of merchandisers responsible for following tasks: • Sourcing Overseas meeting with the buyers and designers to finalize product, price and po placement Fluent apparel costing and strong negotiation for designated product category Share low-cost alternatives that uphold the integrity of the intended product design Developing relation with the customers by exceeding their expectations Discussion on key performing indicators and measures to improve the weak areas • Product Development Leading research and development activities from inception to final product, like: Fabric; texture, content, hand feel, gsm and color Garment; silhouettes, stitching details, measurements and washes Graphic; color, hand feel, design and technique of embellishments (print, embroidery and applique) Samples; development and approval of proto, size set, sales and pre- production within customer given time frame Testing; ensuring all types of lab tests as per the parameters advised by the customer • Communication Bridging the flow of information between designers/buyers and the mill regarding: Product development updates Fabric, Print, washes, embellishment strike offs and sample approvals Production status, obstacles and their solutions, quality concerns Overseas meeting (Germany, Thailand, HK, Dubai, Sri Lanka) with the designers and sourcing teams regarding new fabric development, sample presentation, fit approvals, price negotiation and discussion on current and future business prospects. Communicating with the in-house stake holders to align understanding of current and future customer trends and ensures all go to market expectations • Production Follow Up To ensure 100% OTP, follow up from production PO placement to the delivery of goods in customer's warehouse by focusing on activities like: Order placement while keeping in view the capacity and capability of the vendor Developing time and action plan to cover all production related activities starting from sourcing & processing the raw material till ex-fty the goods to meet customer in DC date. Arranging all pre-production approvals like sealing of PP samples, final tech packs, s/offs approval, conducting pre-production meeting with all the stake holders and educate them regarding the quality, design aspects, measurement accuracy and delivery expectation of the buyer. Managing short lead time orders. • Supply chain Management Coordinating procurement to ensure the quality and on time delivery of raw material (yarn, dyes& chemicals, labels, zippers, sewing thread and packing accessories) Local & Overseas meeting with suppliers in HK & China to negotiate prices and source the material as per the customer quality parameters. Ensuring the inventory of generic items to avoid any stopover in bulk production • Shipping and logistic Coordinating with the shipping team to proceed vessel booking as per customer in-DC deadline. Assuring the preparation of shipping documents as per the customer's required format • Compliance Educating all the stake holders regarding customer compliance requirement to ensure safe and healthy working environment. Coordinating Compliance audits and assuring the implementation of audit findings • Office Management Performs supervisory functions, including but not limited to, making employment decisions regarding hiring, promoting, demoting and terminating, conducting performance appraisals and coaching. Being a senior merchandiser following are my key responsibilities: • Communicating with the designer to understand their requirement regarding tech packs, measurements, fabric/print/embellishment and garment styling. • Translating designer's vision into physical samples, while supervising the making of proto type, sales, pre-production and production samples. • Closely working with research & development team for new fabric, print, washes and embellishment development • Production follow up, ensuring the smooth execution of bulk production while resolving the conflicts • Coordinating with quality assurance department to ensure customer given quality parameters • Developing presentation for seasonal meeting with the buyers covering RND activities, production engineering, speed, sustainability and compliance
