Took the opportunity to extend my maternity leave after my role was eliminated during the early pandemic layoffs two weeks prior to welcoming my daughter to the world then transitioned into stay-at-home motherhood. During my career pause, I realized nothing could prepare me as well for a new opportunity like juggling the demands of stay-at-home motherhood. I learned to be openminded and patient with my expectations, to prioritize and have a backup plan, and an ability to work with urgency and passion. I am grateful to have had this time with my kids and it doesn’t make me “nontraditional” – it makes me valuable.
