I am writing to express my strong interest in a position in the fashion industry.
I am a recent graduate from Marist College, and have received a Bachelor of Arts degree in fashion design, with a minor in business. The fashion design program at Marist College is rated as one of the best and most
extensive in the country. I have learned many things, including an attention to detail, time management,
working in a team environment and working independently.
Despite, having to leave school in the middle of a pandemic I was able to complete looks for my Senior
Design Collection, titiled "Controlled Explosion." I designed and made six ready-to-wear looks for a spring/-
summer womens collection. My collection highlighted diveristy and size inclusivity, with an emphasis on
color and print design. One of the main techniques I utilized was digital laser cutting in di erent garments.
Designing this collection was a pure joy to me, and a great way for me to continue growing as a designer.
Since graduating, I have been working as an Apparel Ecommerce Assistant for a small menswear company
called Ship John. At Ship John, I have gotten the opportunity to work in many di erent areas from leather-
working, customer service, sewing, hardware installation on products, as well as other adminstrative tasks.
Also, I have been responsible for doing visual merchandising for our retail front as well as keeping track of shipping and inventory.
I also worked part time as a Fashion Intern for the startup streetwear company Oui by Candyce. Since this
was during the peak of Covid-19, I worked remotely. Through this opportunity, I was able to grow my social
media, promotion, blog writing, and graphic design skills. I worked closely with the founder to develop
content for social media, and create digital graphics for numerous products.
As a design intern with Nesis Brand Group, I enhanced my technical design skills. I assisted with creating
tech packs for clients, creating at sketches using Adobe Illustrator, and putting together design sheets.
During my time with this company, I also assisted in creating an entire swimwear linesheet and creating
patterns for garments.
With my education, work and volunteer experience, I believe that I have gained valuable knowledge and
skills that would help make me a successful member within your team. Thank you for your time. I hope to learn more about this opportunity through a personal interview. I have attached my resume for your
consideration. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at (503) 459-9901 or at janelle.ada@gmail.com.
Sincerely,
Janelle Arnold
