Import Director
Sunrise Brands LLC - Los Angeles, CA - February 1998 to February 2017
In charge of all the import and logistics function for the whole group of companies with annual sales of hundreds of millions.
Supervise the Import manager leading a team of import supervisors and executives.
Set up procedure and system for the smooth operation of the import functions.
Review workload and cross training subordinates to multi task, entails
development, improvement and growth.
Work with customs brokers on customs entry of import shipments, also coordinate any exportation or return to vendor shipment.
Classify products for duty rate determination and establish landed cost.
Estimate freight cost to assist the sales department finalizing quotation for the customers.
Coordinate and leading the production team to ensure goods are shipped/aired on time, cleared customs smoothly and bring into USA promptly to meet deadline.
Negotiate air rate with different forwarders for all air freight of all movement of our shipments.
Work with ocean carriers on yearly service contracts to secure space and hold down rates on committed containers.
Contract truckers to transport goods across the nation to East Coast from the West Cost, by RAIL or Over The Road.
Locate third party warehouses for storage and distribution of imported goods at different cities basing on the company need.
Travel to different cities in different countries to work with the customers, vendors, factories, third party warehouses and service providers.
Direct the shipping department of our Hong Kong Office working closely with the Import Department of our LA corporate office providing first information from the merchandisers, shippers and factories in conjunction with our forwarders.
Document of Credit opening to vendors.
Letter of Credit negotiation.
Collection of Payment on D/P, D/A terms.
Problem solving, cost saving, just in time delivery, and project development.
