In the fourth grade I killed a hamster. I placed him in the front pocket of my overalls and ferociously began twirling in circles. While this may normally be a great plan, my pocket was not as deep as I calculated and the hamster flew out and hit the window. He died on impact. If the designers at Osh Kosh B’gosh had considered that children need big pockets, my peers and I may have been spared watching a hamster’s succumb to blunt trauma. 

This experience has stuck with me forever. Not the hamster death, but the fact that design is as much about utility as it is about aesthetics. The experience has taught me to consider all details relevant to a design’s environment. Placement, audience, and timing are all aspects that affect a design. Designing for everything from hospitals to art collectives has encouraged me to view projects from many different sets of eyes. I hope to combine these elements and experiences in my work to create a cohesive design that is instantly felt and understood.

Currently working with Senior Creative Content Director to create media kits for national and local clients. This process involves editing photos and collecting content from multiple media sources to enhance the media kits. Worked at the Forbes 30 Under 30 conference to help organize Press and represented Skai Blue as an ambassador. In addition, assisting on photo shoots to help execute the artistic vision and create unified styles that fit the brand identity. This role includes pulling fashions for the models/clients to wear.

Responsible for organizing daily restaurant operations and planning tables accordingly. Maintaining good customer relations by ensuring customer needs are met. In addition, responsible for planning parties and making sure all reservations are met.

Hostess

Developing design skills by working with an Art Director to brainstorm and develop logos for local businesses. Working with other team members to develop mailers for clients. Also responsible for editing and adding new information to existing print pieces.

Art Direction Intern

Re-wrote web content and created mocks for new site pages, Created brand guidelines, Attended meetings and adhered to specific hospital requirements in regards to content, Attended breast cancer screenings in the community.
