In my opinion - as an INTJ - time is the most valuable resource God has given me, and I am quite strategic with it.  Every day starts with a cup of strong black coffee and always incorporates both work and play.  When working, my passion lies in management consulting and educating others about financial literacy, money management, and business / nonprofit consulting strategies (lhoffbeck.com).  When playing, my activities of choice are surfing, hiking, running (LA Marathon 2014 - 4:28:21), tennis, or a night at the movie theater.  Regardless of the day or activity, all is well with the world when my wife and dog, Finnley, are nearby.

Highlights:

-Over 3 years experience in a managerial finance role using Excel & Apple Numbers

-Founded and directed a humanitarian project, Incandesce, LLC, which partnered with Bob Goff & Restore International and included hand delivery of solar lantern fulfillment in Gulu, Uganda
-Extensive Spanish & international experience living 3+ months in each country: Ecuador, South Africa, and Spain

After returning in December from living in South Africa for 4+ months, I am seeking a new opportunity to engage my passions and strengths: finance, spreadsheets, numbers, management consulting, and marketing.

In 2013, I began a few freelance management consulting projects for small businesses and non-profits.  They primarily needed help in areas pertaining to: startup phase, financial management, marketing planning (including social media), and organizational development.  Two years later, I have had 7 small business and 1 non-profit clients in the following industries: children's after-school programs, health & wellness, humanitarian, photography, and website & media creatives.  Since the full life cycle phase of Incandesce, LLC - my entrepreneurial venture - my interest has been piqued in strategy and management consulting.

BrightPeak Financial is a non-profit that is "built for people, not for profit" and is a new division of Thrivent Financial, based in Minneapolis, MN.  Specializing in financial literacy education, budgeting best practices, intentional living, and helping people set themselves up for a financially secure future, BrightPeak has developed a unique platform in the industry to make this happen.  The BrightPeak blog is central to accomplishing these goals as emphasis is placed on education and not sales.  I was brought on as a freelance blogger in August, 2014 and author 4 blogs remotely on a semi-annual basis.

Financial Blogger

Shortly after my entrepreneurial venture - Incandesce, LLC - I connected with Aleph Surf International (ASI) to continue my pursuit and passion of working in the humanitarian field.  ASI has a presence in Jeffreys Bay, South Africa and Southern California and is a non-profit that "restores communities through surf, leadership, education, and job creation."  I began working with ASI in Southern California as a management consultant helping with operations, inventory control, procurement, and public relations events.  After 1 year of service, I was promoted to consult onsite with the founders in South Africa and lead a 5 month workshop with the founders, focusing on: organizational development, structure, and scaling; financial management; and marketing management.

Highlights:        
-Designed a scalable business model transforming the current self-support fundraising model into quantifying donor impact through 2 fundraising revenue streams by separating & packaging indirect and direct

Management Consultant

I grew up with 2 horses of my own and love spending time on horseback in the outdoors.  This job was a perfect fit when additional part-time work complemented my freelance consulting initiative.  The horse ranch is located in Agoura Hills, CA.  From there I would transport 9 horses by trailer to 6 different horse trails in Malibu and Paramount Ranch.  The trails would range from 1 to 2 hours long, and I would lead up to 8 people per ride.  The trails were a perfect location as they have been seen in numerous movies & TV shows including: John Wayne films, Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman and most recently, Clint Eastwood's American Sniper (2014). 

Highlights:
-Led 1-2 hour horse rides at Paramount Ranch with up to 8 horses per ride
-Cared after 12+ horses, including: feeding, watering, brushing, & transporting

Horse Trail Guide

Project Solutions Companies (PSC), founded in 1990, was an engineering firm that specialized in building systems design, and at its peak, was a $6M+ annual revenue firm with 35+ employees.  In 2014, PSC closed its doors for one last time, but the solutions they provided over the years are still sought after and leave an impact on their past trusted clients, some including: 3M, Aramark, Mt. Sinai NY, Mt. Sinai Chicago, Sodexo, and Stanford University Medical Center. 

I was hired in early 2011 as a young Millennial that recently graduated cum laude from Bethel University with a BA in Business Finance.   I was hired as an in-house “visioneer” & consultant joining the business department; purposed to analyze, research, and scale marketing & finance for Project Solutions Companies (PSC).  I reported directly to the CEO & CFO, working closely on managerial finance and marketing projects.  

Highlights:
-As direct assistant to the CFO, my comfort space became excel spreadsheets and budgets. 

Corporate Visioneer

In mid-2012, I started Incandesce Project, a humanitarian candle company.  We gave away a solar-lantern for every candle sold. Its sole purpose was to aid those living without electricity around the globe and to provide a substitute for kerosene and its negative consequences. I traveled to Gulu, Uganda to deliver and fulfill the committed lanterns to kids at Restore International Academy. Driven by ethical convictions to not be a band-aid on an underlying systemic issue, while also respecting human dignity, Incandesce was dissolved to pursue further humanitarian efforts. The life of this candle company was short and sweet, but we hand-delivered 100 solar lanterns in Uganda to the Restore International Leadership Academy, which fulfilled the original company vision to give a valuable light source to those living in energy poverty.

-Identified a social need, energy poverty, and launched a creative impact business founded to alleviate it (energy poverty halts economic and soc

-Advised and oversaw a store of 100+ employees through customer service training and monitoring proper conduct
     	
-Recruited and interviewed 5-10 prospective employees weekly to cover store turnover and hired on company’s metrics

-Received an employee recognition award for increasing positive environment on the sales floor derived from high customer service solutions while embodying a self-starter disposition

Assistant Manager

-Advised customers on financial and wealth management services focusing on customer satisfaction and best interest as well as deepening client relationship and loyalty with the bank

-Resolved customer issues related to account fees, bank or client mishaps, and general discrepancies while boosting the customer experience through educating on how to avoid banking complications in the future

Credit Manager & Personal Banker

-Led and supervised 3 USA volunteer teams, ranging from 5-30 people, providing a cultural vision trip 	

-Served Waodani tribe located in Ecuadorian jungle accessible by 6-passenger plane
