I have recently finished my employment with Billabong, as the Global Accessories Design Manager. After 15 years of service.
Over that 15 year period, i was responsible for designing accessories and garments, as
well as the below.
- Watch Designer for Billabong for over 6 years (including managing the category for 4years)
- Outerwear Designer for the past decade for Billabong (managing the category for the past 5 years domestically and working with global teams)
- I have traveled extensively across the globe for market research, trade shows and meeting supply chain etc.

- Identify and interpret key trends and set the creative direction for the global mens accessories program, as well as design, manage and assist in the global development of the Billabong outerwear collection.
- Design ranges that continue to give the brand the top position within the market.
- Manage the functions of the global mens accessories program/team, to ensure the ranges are released to market on time and within required financial targets.
- Ensure seasonal design intents are executed, as well as construct seasonal line plans/structure.
- Develop relevant selling tools.
- Liase with sales account managers and design teams globally to ensure right product lines are developed.
- Arrange briefs for seasonal photoshoots and sampling.
- Assist the marketing team in the selection of media material.
- Build relationships with other Billabong International divisions, to develop a global design strategy.
- Conduct regular competitor analysis activities and complete regular international and domestic market research - by observing relevant retail, street style and sample purchasing.
(destinations have included: Paris, London, New York, Tokyo, Osaka, Los Angeles, Hong Kong, Singapore, Denver, Melbourne and Sydney).
- Build relationships and visit vendors in HK, China and Indonesia to assess/build and follow up on the production of fabrics, garments, watches and accessories. As well as observe techniques and processes.
- Work closely with the production team to develop fabrics and products within FOB and RP targets, manage lead times and negotiate pricing, MOQs etc.
- Work closely with garment to ensure synergy within lines.
- Develop trim package and seasonal colour palettes.
- Present ranges to key accounts, sales force and related retail etc.
