During the course we did a number of projects for key clients. One project involved researching Avalanche survival and taking 2 Avalanche survival courses to better understand the issues of being trapped in an Avalanche. I took this experience and knowledge as a good starting point to begin the design process from concept sketches to final working prototypes. The final design was a full survival system that included heated base layer, airbag system (before current products on market), outerwear, Rucksack and other equipment that would assist in surviving an Avalanche.

Studied Web Design for 6 months, the course involved designing websites using Dreamweaver and Flash software packages. I then did a placement at Zoo Media to gain real world web design experience.

I specialize in industrial and technical garment design, applying research of materials and future trends to create apparel and accessories for mountain bike and MX disciplines. I also have extensive skills and knowledge in 3D CAD, rapid prototyping, materials, construction techniques, CE certification testing and packaging design. Using various software packages and workshop machines to build and test prototypes and models. I enjoy collaborating with clients such as Royal Racing, Madison, Giant Bicycles, Dakine, and others, to provide a design service that covers all stages of the design process and meets their specific needs and expectations.

- Produce concept sketches and follow the design process through to tech pack/ CAD stage.
- Build 3D CAD models to use for Rapid prototyping and as final prototypes to send out to the factories.
- Carry out Research and Development work with team riders and apply to finished design.
- Design Packaging for Seven, Royal Racing and Tag Metals.
- Develope the product for all three brands from hand off of tech pack and CAD drawings through to SMS samples and production as well as building and overseeing yearly workbooks and catalogues.
- Whilst here I won the Eurobike design award for our Project Knee pad which I worked on solely to push kneepad technology and the future direction of the company.

At Fox I was the designer responsible for the mountain bike product line.I worked from a line plan through 5 concept stages to completed tech pack handoff. Managing my own time ,projects and workflow along the way. Then followed the development process working closely with the technical design team, developers and fit room to ensure the product maintained its design aesthetic and was kept as it was originally intended. The role included researching new materials and technologies that could be implemented in to the products.

Senior Product Designer

My duties involved the design of the bike and casual clothing ranges from initial concept through to final confirmation samples. As well as design I also handled all tech pack creation, fabric sourcing and development.

Senior Designer

Worked on innovative packaging concepts for Asda, Walmart, Marks and Spencer and northern food group. Presented packaging concepts, worked in ideation meetings with other designers and built models both in CAD and with modelling materials.

Junior Designer

I started my own clothing company designing and manufacturing mountain bike clothes. My duties were wide and varied from running a company and its accounts to designing and sourcing fabrics for garments and developing them with in house pattern makers and vendors. It gave me a huge understanding of how a business works from accounting and profit, cost breakdown to production and other manufacturing areas. When I moved on away from the businessI took with me a wealth of knowledge that would be useful later on in my career.
