About Subtle Luxury + Spun by Subtle Luxury Subtle Luxury started in 1995 by Cindy & Darrin Freeman, owners & designers of the luxury brand of cashmere, scarves, loungewear and resort wear. They are inspired daily by living in the beautiful town of Manhattan Beach, California, where they blend the love of the beach with natural bohemian chic that are translated into Subtle Luxury designs. Subtle Luxury is known for their “California Cashmere” sweater knits which are knitted light and airy and make the perfect sweater for season-less wearing – 365 days a year. Both modern and timeless in its appeal, the Subtle Luxury aesthetic draws its influences from the love of luxury fibers, unique details and extreme softness. Subtle Luxury is the perfect blend of comfort, fashion, and cool. The Subtle Luxury collection is made up of light layers when put together create a comfy, stylish laid–back look, perfect for West or East Coast. The layering all starts with a cotton or silk “a la slip”, next a beautiful sheer print shirt or dress, and lastly a “California Cashmere” sweater or wrap. Their slips are made to be worn inside or out and have that California cool vintage flavor which have become a staple for Subtle Luxury. Spun by Subtle Luxury scarves and wraps were added to the Subtle Luxury Brand in 2009 and became an instant success. Soft fibers, colorful prints, knitted and woven styles are introduced each season with affordable luxury in mind. Their signature XL wraps can be tied into multi-wear garments: vests, dresses, wraps, kimono jackets. In Fall 2010, the introduction of warm & cozy hand-loomed blanket wraps and ponchos were extremely successful. Fresh details and shapes are introduced each season but the styles that become our customers’ favorites continue with each collection and are updated with colors, details or new combinations.
