Associate Development Engineer

I am a designer and life-long outdoors enthusiast. My first job was wrenching at a bike shop, this led me to a bachelors in mechanical engineering, managing a campus bicycle shop, and eventually designing bicycle frames, parts, and accessories. I have a passion for all things mechanical, the tools that physically empower us through the world, how they're made, and what aesthetics they communicate. I have extensive DFM experience that allows me to design innovative and manufacturable product solutions.

I split my free time between outdoors adventuring, going to shows, and my workshop. Recently I've been exploring new materials and manufacturing methods for art and product design.



• Managed multiple lighting development projects and assistant development engineers
• Designed, fabricated, and documented testing rigs and experimental product models 
• Researched, benchmarked, and tested various LED light engines and discrete components
• Generated and illustrated new product testing procedure
• Attended trade show as lab representative

Lead designer for various mechanical assemblies and components, primarily for the consumer goods market:
• Researched, Developed, Documented, Evaluated, Tested, and Prototyped multi-part mechanical systems
• Used SolidWorks for Modeling, Rendering, FEA, 2D Drawing and Documentation
• Hand sketched industrial design product concepts and mechanical system analysis
• Designed and fabricated proof of concept and experimentation testing rigs
• Designed and managed modular outdoor antenna from concept to production (injection molding)
• Designed and managed smart wood burning stove from hand sketches to full function prototypes
• Built rapid prototypes using machine shop and digital fabrication tools
• Worked directly with Clients, ID, QA, EE, and a PM to determine mechanical product requirements
• Determined part dimension, tolerance, material selection, and material finish, and generated documentation of specifications
• Worked closely with foreign and domestic manufacturers 

Mechanical Design Engineer

• Prototyped and assisted in design of backpacks, bags, and soft good accessories
• Developed understanding of DFM and DFA from firsthand experience with batch production and manufacturing
• Designed tooling and efficiency solutions for soft goods manufacturing 
• Created technical documentation of fabrication and assembly procedures
• Researched soft goods manufacturing ERP systems, built out ERP system for inventory and raw material management.
• Built product costing tools for tracking raw materials, manual labor, machine usage


Soft Goods Designer and Manufacturing Process Engineer

Responsible for New Product Development and Managing Product Catalog Documentation and Quality Assurance
• Designed and brought to market consumer goods including bicycle frames, components, and accessories
• Generated unique intellectual property product solutions, both in-brand and brand expanding
• Took products from conception, through prototyping and testing, to finalization and production	
• Used SolidWorks extensively to design product concepts and technical specification for manufacturers
• Generated technical content in the form of blog posts and technical specifications/instructions for the end user
• Worked closely with foreign and domestic CMs, traveled internationally, toured factories, vetted new CMs
• Attended trade shows as brand ambassador and purchaser, assisted in the design and fabrication of trade show booth

Product Design Engineer

Managed campus bicycle repair shop with 9 student employees
• Taught mechanical repair workshops for students and employees 
• Managed: employees, staff scheduling, shop inventory, and rental bike fleet
• Developed a strong hands-on understanding of mechanical systems, and learned how to communicate that understanding to people who did not have a technical background
