Major Accomplishments:
• Provided five year projection of capital investment along with new jobs that led to obtaining a $2M California Competes Tax Credit.
• Reduced bank translation fees by more than $1M by creating a policy which accepted customer payments in their local currencies and using those funds to pay foreign vendors.
• Improved revenue by $0.8M for Esri’s Training Division by assisting them in formulating a successful proposal that allowed for a price increase.
• Introduced and implemented first ever SQL server in the Finance Department containing seven years of general ledger history with nightly feeds from SAP. Finance Department now uses that as its single source of truth. Hundreds of downloads were eliminated.
• Streamlined Excel based account reconciliation process. In writing VBA codes that allowed accountants to run their reconciliations in Excel that interfaced with Access queries to pull transactions from the SQL server. This reduced the update time that took 10 to 20 minutes to a few seconds per account.
• Developed a daily cashflow dashboard in Excel which interfaced with Access and SQL server. The dashboard reports daily cash disbursements and receipts as well as five week forecast.
• Implemented and formalized monthly accounting accrual process which was new to Esri.
• Analyzed and assisted in the orchestration of reducing 210 cost centers into 25. This enabled the streamlining of reporting. This change was needed to support a new corporate sales initiative.
Key Responsibilities:
• Responsible for three major functions: FP&A, reporting, and monthly G/L close.
• Oversee annual budget preparation, ensuring consistency with strategic agenda.
• Manage all financial planning activities including annual operating plan and monthly forecast updates.
• Serve as key business and strategic advisor to divisional business units, providing insight in the key drivers of the business, challenging business decisions through holistic assessment of impact on the business model.
• Provide financial support for ad-hoc Global Business Development projects and for Corporate initiatives.
• Partner with accounting during month end close to ensure timely and accurate financial results. Including oversight of close as well as accruals.
• Maintain proactive relationships with divisional business units, Fixed Assets, Corporate Tax, AR, AP and Accounting.
• Deliver clear verbal and written explanations of analyses to senior management that translate findings into strategic recommendations.
• Oversee the production and distribution of accurate and timely managerial reports to executive management in order to communicate financial performance and progress towards target objectives.
• Variance analysis comparing financial results and key metrics to plan and prior period. Building roadmaps/recons for management to understand key variances.
• Responsible for the directing, coaching, training, development, and performance management of eight financial analysts.
• Provide assistance to senior management on projects and presentations and present as necessary.
