Eighty 300 Design
Art Director & Designer | 01/2013 - Current
I use my strengths at Identity design, Branding development and following Brand Guidelines to work with clients on a freelance basis.
Recently I completed a re-branding for Stansport, a 66-year-old camping equipment manufacturer. Applied the brand to over 200 Packages, Backer Cards and Hang Tags complete with multiple languages. The new look created excitement and heightened recognition amongst wholesale buyers and expanded Stansport’s retail presence. Also increased online interest and purchases.
MDG
Art Director & Designer | 01/2003 - 06/2013
Expanded my experience in packaging design to include computer hardware & software, home video and edutainment software. I also created licensing guidelines for the entertainment industry.
Using my previous experience in swimwear design I helped the MDG owners to create Malibu Shirts a destination sportswear company. Starting in 2005 I designed signage, point of purchase displays and merchandise for the retail store chain based in the Hawaiian Islands.
My involvement was instrumental in the growth of the company from one store to the present five stores. Created and gave presentations to successfully acquire licensees in Japan and Europe.
Moore & Price Design
Sr. Graphic Designer | 01/1990 - 09/2002
Joined a design firm that specialized in Video Game titles and packaging. I started the Southern California office of the Palo Alto based firm.
I art directed and designed packaging, magazine advertising, point of purchase displays, exhibit graphics, sales collateral and instructional manuals. I also managed the office and was responsible for interviewing and hiring of employees.
Generation One Sportswear
Swimwear Designer | 04/1986 - 01/1990
After my experience at Ocean Pacific Sunwear (OP) I was picked by the men’s swimwear licensee to head up a team of artists, pattern makers and merchandisers to produce men’s and boy’s styles on a seasonal basis. Combining prints, fabrics and trim details I created surfing board shorts and other swim styles. My responsibilities also included presentations to the worldwide sales teams before each season.
Ocean Pacific Sunwear
Graphic Designer | 05/1983 - 02/1986
As a member of the art department I worked closely with merchandisers and fashion designers to generate seasonal design concepts for the men and women’s beachwear market. Through research a year in advance we predicted color, fabric and style trends. With the use of art boards, photos, color studies, textile prints and garment sketches we created presentations to introduced the seasonal concepts to the worldwide licensees. I was also responsible for designing trim packages that included labels and patches.
During my time at OP I designed the Identity and art directed the advertising and event promotional materials for Hydro Light Wetsuits.
