Kevin Cooper: Freelance Designer in Spartanburg, SC

I am a graphic designer for a large screen printing company in the Upstate South Carolina area. I moved to SC to get this position to be able to learn more about the screen printing industry. I work on a wide variety of apparel designs everyday. We handle orders from large distributors and companies like Adidas, Hanes, NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL just to name a few. 25% of our work is custom creation, 75% is alterations on contract designs coming it. Attention to detail is crucial when it comes to larger contract work.

I have been doing freelance work on the side since starting my college degree in 2011. I have had a wide range of design experience from logos, to web design layouts, to apparel design. I have been all over the board and feel like doing freelance has helped me experience many different design styles.

After being in the printing industry for awhile I decided to go into business for myself and start a silk screen printing business. I handled all sales, marketing, ordering, printing, design, and day to day operations for the first 6 months. I then hired 3 employees to help with the work load and sold the business after being in business over a year.

At Goldbond I was learning more of the promotional product printing industry. I designed a lot of various designs for promotional products and learning the screen printing process.

Scenic City Occasions was a premier production company in Chattanooga. We specialized in event AV services. I handled all social media, design, and marketing efforts to grow the business.

I digitized and edited old video formats and transferred them onto DVD or flash drive. We handled some very delicate memories from all over the world and it really showed me that whatever work you are doing, it is important and valued.

While at All Things Personalized I got a well rounded outlook on design by designing everything from T-Shirts, to promotional products, to even grave markings. They literally did all things personalized.
