THE BOEING COMPANY
737 MAX/NG Landing Gear Structures Design Intern | 06/2019 - 08/2019
Supported design alterations and production of the 737 MAX/NG Landing Gear. Provided landing gear maintenance recommendations to airlines. Addressed and corrected manufacturer confusions and mishaps. Worked in CATIA V5 editing 3D models and creating drawings for publishing. Reviewed and edited tolerance stack-ups and Aircraft Maintenance Manuals. Collected data from airplanes to monitor a nose landing gear issue. Provided a physical representation of the solution to this issue by altering the 3D models of the parts involved and 3D printing them. Attended Boeing classes on various aerospace topics including landing gear design, analysis and testing, while additionally touring facilities such as the 737 Factory, 737 Final Assembly, 737 Wing Assembly, Composite Wing Center, Everett Factory, P8 Poseidon and Customer Experience Center.
Gonzaga University
Hydrogen Storage - Materials Engineering Researcher | 06/2018 - 08/2018
Conducted research on hydrogen storage and enthalpy of desorption for metal hydrides. Worked on two hydrogen canisters, studying their ability to provide volumetrically efficient storage and analyzing their enthalpy of desorption. Created models for how the canisters would behave while supplying hydrogen in applications such as hydrogen fuel cell vehicles. Conducted fatigue testing on hydrogen exposed steels and aluminums to analyze their mechanical properties after being exposed to hydrogen and to aid in understanding how hydrogen fuel cell fittings behave after transporting hydrogen.
K2 SPORTS
Design Engineer Intern | 06/2017 - 08/2017
Worked with ski and ski boot engineers for K2 Sports' subcompanies K2 Skis, LINE Skis, and Full Tilt Boots. Completed design projects including proposing new design options for the tongue-to-main body clip used on Full Tilt Boots. Worked in the shop helping prototype skis, running CNC routers, and conducting materials testing on different thermoplastics for ski boots. Gained knowledge on plastic injection molding and ski manufacturing processes. Edited part sheets, completed first article inspection reports on parts, and compiled raw material cost data. Completed on-snow testing and participated in the product launch for the newly designed K2 Mindbender ski boot.
