I recently completed my M.S. degree in Textile Chemistry in the College of Textiles at NC State. I began my undergraduate career studying Fashion and Textile Management and completed my undergraduate degree in Textile Technology with a minor in Materials Science Engineering at NC State. 

During my graduate studies I worked as a research assistant creating a biofilm resistant finish applied by UV curing sponsored by Nike Inc. I have interned with Cotton Incorporated in the Textile Chemistry Research Department and with Glen Raven’s Sunbrella Custom Fabric division in the Research and Development Department. I was fortunate to work on a couple of projects of my own as well as assist the engineers with various testing and lab work. They were great experiences and taught me a lot about the textile industry, manufacturing, and supply chain; fabric construction; and chemical finishes. 

The time I have spent earning my degrees has given me the basic knowledge of digital printing, conventional printing, preparation, and dyeing. I am also proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Photoshop and love design. 

As a runner and outdoor enthusiast I am very interested in working for a company that shares my interests. 


-Developed a radical UV-cure process chemistry of acrylate monomers for coatings that impart biofilm resistant properties to textiles
-Formulated and applied chemistry
-Carried out bacteria testing and standards
-Completed FTIR analysis, contact angle, and durability testing
-Researched the current state of the art, compiled and analyzed results 
-Communicated efficiently with outside vendors and corporate sponsors

Graduate Research Assistant

-Worked in the Textile Chemistry Research Department applying technical finishes and testing samples, specifically wrinkle resistance and water resistance
-Gained an understanding of application methods and required performance functions of various finishing chemical auxiliaries 
-Assisted with fabric performance testing for durable press, strength, and water resistance 
-Analyzed data and compiled results into technical reports.

Textile Chemistry Research

-Worked with the R&-D staff to analyze fabric performance and finishing technology and assisted with lab work
-Evaluated and determined the cause of an existing problem through research, determination of variables, set up of experimental procedures, and hands-on testing
