Santa Ana Police Department
Senior Office Assistant | 09/2019 - Current
Job responsibilities include performing administrative duties within the Background Unit. Such duties include helping Background Investigators with processing criminal record checks and agency records checks through a computer software program for Police Department applicants including Sworn, Correctional Officers, Police Dispatchers, Professional Staff, Volunteers, and contract employees. Other duties include oversight and record keeping on the status of all PD applicants utilizing both Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Access, this is a pertinent task to help inform supervisors, PD HR and command staff on the status of applicants. I assist the Administration Bureaus command staff with processing purchase orders (requisitions) in conjunction with city finance on orders for the Training Division, Background Unit, and Human Resources. Once a month the Background Unit host Fast Track PAT Testing for Police Recruits/ Lateral Police Officer, my job requires to prepare all materials necessary to help facilitate the testing, along with scheduling dates, times, and locations in conjunction with PD HR and City HR to put on these events. During the Fast Track PAT Testing the components that are completed within a day are as follows: Physical Agility Testing, Preliminary Questionnaire with a Background Investigator, and a panel interview to complete the day. If the applicants pass all three components, they are referred to backgrounds.
At the start of January 2021, I started to assist PD Human Resources with processing workers compensation claims due to the surge of COVID exposures from the COVID 19 Pandemic. In June 2021, I took over the role in processing all workers compensation claims within the Police Department. This role is very important because responsibilities include Processing personnel’s sick time and IOD time, along with working as a liaison with City Risk Management, City Human Resources, City Finance, Workers Compensation Insurance, and PD fiscal.
