The Village Board Shop

Sales Specialist | 05/2017 - Current

The Village Boardshop opened their doors in 1985. This shop instills the skate and snowboard culture in South Lake Tahoe, Ca. At the shop, I am the head of sales and customer relationships. I help build the skateboard community in town by hosting a free ladies night at Skatehouse an indoor skatepark here. I worked side by side with the owners bringing in new brands and planning events such as our Annual Labor Day Tent Sale. This shop is one of kind. Every year we do a seasonal flip where we go from selling bikinis and paddleboards to outerwear and snowboards. This shop has many behind the scene elements, without a strong team tasks would feel impossible. Working at the VIllage Boardshop has taught me great work ethic and team skills. I have enjoyed my time working with my team but want to expands my knowledge of the skate and snowboard industry.

Lead Ticket Agent | 10/2012 - 12/2015

I worked as a ticket agent at Northstar California resort for three years. I loved this job. I got to be outside every day in the beautiful mountains. My main duty was to scan tickets on the RFID system to ensure guest had a proper lift ticket. The main skill of this job is customer service. It was our duty to welcome the guest to the mountain. After the first year, I was promoted to Lead Ticket Agent. This meant I was responsible for overseeing the other ticket agents at my lift. I was also responsible for fixing ski tickets that were not registering with the software and handled any ski ticket fraud situations. The one thing I really liked about this job is it gave me many opportunities to turn negative situations into positive ones. I was able to ensure that each guest was having an optimal experience.

Vail Resorts Retail

Supervisor | 09/2015 - 09/2015

When I worked for Vail Resorts Retail I was responsible for two stores. The two stores were, "Mine Children's Apparel" and The "Northstar Logo Shop". Mine Children's apparel is a children's Ski and Snowboard shop located at Northstar California Resort. I was also in charge of the Northstar logo shop which sold all the resorts logo apparel and souvenirs. When I worked here there were only a handful of employees. This left me as acting store manager the majority of the time. I was responsible for all opening and closing functions. I was in charge of all the tills for both stores and making sure the deposits are done and each register has the right amount of change. I handle all of the shipment and merchandising for both stores. I also instructed sales associated with successful sales techniques and a certain task like markdowns. This job really tested my boundaries I worked many 50 hour weeks. After graduating University I decided to resign and relocate to Washington state for a year to explore.

Zumiez

Second Assistant Manager | 08/2011 - 06/2013

I started working at Zumiez as a sales associate. I was the top candidate out of 12 people who interviewed. It was my communication and sales skills that made me stand out. I loved my job at Zumiez. I wanted to climb the totem poll there and work at the top. As a sales associate, it was hard to get hours. I would work 5-10 hours week and beg my manager if I could come in for a couple of hours to merchandise the displays. With these little hours, I really had to hustle my commission. I even qualified as a Zumiez 100k employee. This means I sold over 100k in merchandise in one year. Yeah, I did that off an average of ten hours a week in a little mall in Reno, NV. I was very proud of myself. That confidence the first year led me to do more task around the store and later on a promotion. I worked as a second assistant manager and I loved it. The only reason why I stopped working for Zumiez is they shut my store down and there wasn't an open mangers postion at the other store.

This was my very first job at 16 years old. I was pretty excited to get hired at a cool new board shop in the mall. My first day was black Friday, I started at 6:30 in the morning with no training. I stood there and greeted people also kept an eye out for any LP issues. I worked here for two years until I graduated high school. This job taught me great customer service and how to be a top salesperson. I went out of my way to make customers feel like friends and several regulars throughout the years.
