Worked as part of a six to seven person crew to provide a safe, fun and exciting experience on a 13 to 18 day whitewater river trip through the Grand Canyon. Working roles included
• Trip leader (working as the team captain to manage the rest of the crew and the trip participants).
• Paddle captain (providing leadership and confidence in directing a six person crew of passengers to power a 14 to 16 foot paddle boat down river).
• Head cook (managing all food for a two week trip making sure food is monitored and maintained for the duration of the trip, providing healthy fulfilling meals for 20 to 30 people every day, and creating a cook schedule for the crew).
• Boat guide (maneuvering a 14 to 18 foot boat, oar or paddle powered, safely downriver through whitewater rapids).
• Hiking guide (leading passengers on physically and personally challenging hikes through the side canyons of the Grand Canyon).
• Interpretive guide (providing interesting and accurate information about the canyon ranging from a variety of topics including but not limited to geology, flora and fauna, and local histories).
• As a top guide within the company assisted in training new and prospective guides, properly demonstrating company policies and effectively demonstrating excellent guiding practices.
• Additional duties included helping to facilitate passengers’ experiences while in the canyon, as well as helping to make their camping and river trip as fun, safe and comfortable as possible.
