Kaiser Permanente
Lead Mobile Developer | 06/2014 - Current
I work for the Mobility Center of Excellence (MCoE) which essentially leads the way for mobile application development for Kaiser Permanente. I lead several initiatives including:
1. Application quality certification. I lead the technical side (code design gates) of the certification team that reviews all apps and components developed within the company or by our partners.
2. I lead the accessibility initiatives from the development standpoint for mobile application development. I am part of the Accessibility Review Board and I travel to KP's development offices to give workshops on accessible design. I also recently helped to develop a web-based accessibility course within the company.
3. I run Kaiser Permanente's Mobile Developer's Community of Practice. We are an internal user group that meets once a month.
4. I am a volunteering administrator and I manage the volunteering relationships between KP Colorado and Trips for Kids along with COMBA (Colorado Mountain Bike Association) and Golden Giddyup.
Other accomplishments:
I recently (late 2019) pitched a new innovation idea for KP's "Innovation Challenge" and, after several rounds, the concept of "My Visit Plan" using location awareness and geofencing won the overall best innovation. I then went on to represent the idea further at the MSSA Innovates conference in San Diego.
I became the SME on our internal end-to-end monitoring solution for our mobile applications and supporting back-end services using Dynatrace by presenting an initial demonstration of usage and working on the initial implementation within our primary KP mobile application.
I headed the pilot-phase development of our "Wayfinder" concept to create an indoor-mapping solution for our larger facilities. I also created the beacon-based Location Awareness project to detect facility arrival.
I've been a regular contributing member of my department's "Tiger Team" which has been tasked with improving our group's work efficiencies and employee experience at KP.
ToolWatch
Solutions Architect | 09/2012 - 06/2014
I've worked on a variety of technologies including REST-based web services in .NET, the architecture of our AWS cloud services using Elastic Beanstalk and moving our systems to a horizontally scalable nTier model while at ToolWatch.
I also worked on iOS mobile applications in Objective-C starting with the initial prototypes before bringing on other developers and then continuing with the finalization of the product.
Camping World and Good Sam
Senior Software Engineer | 05/2012 - 09/2012
I was engaged in a re-architecture of current systems working under the lead
architect.
AvTrak, LLC
Lead Software Engineer | 05/2011 - 05/2012
Lead developer and architect. I've been a major part of moving the development practice forward with agile methodology, core system redesign and scaling out of current system tiers. I've completed a transition to Team Foundation Server for internal .NET source control and Git for externally shared source control for iOS projects (via Mac).
Finished the company's first iOS (iPad) project which connects pilots of Gulfstream aircraft to onboard diagnostics systems, enabling quick and easy FAA-required maintenance updates to persist to cloud-based storage on Avtrak's systems.
GoDaddy.com
Senior Software Developer | 12/2010 - 05/2011
Member of the "Fastball" team within the infrastructure applications division.
I plan, design and develop mostly server-side software used in customer-facing mission-critical systems across very large clusters. The application environment is .NET (C#) with heavy usage of SOA and message queuing. The fastball team delivers traffic-analysis solutions to Go Daddy. Our services measure volume, activity, detect platforms (such as mobile devices), signal alerts and perform various other enterprise functions.
We use Agile/Scrum methodology to develop very highly scalable systems on a Windows-based infrastructure.
CollegeInvest
Solutions Architect | 10/2009 - 12/2010
The position was in the State of Colorado, Department of Higher Education,
serving the CollegeInvest, College-Assist, and College in Colorado divisions.
The overall architecture of applications and systems used in application delivery and hosting. I managed the conversion of the team's workflow to Scrum methodology and was in charge of moving to a more component-based code framework. I was responsible for both Microsoft-oriented systems (.NET, SQL Server, Dynamics CRM, SharePoint, Team Foundation Server, etc.) and LAMP systems used in external web presentation.
TopSchool

Managed the production support queue. I also managed web and database infrastructure and took part in release deployments.
