-Design and sketch silhouettes for each season. -Create/visualize an idea, sketch rough and/or detailed drawings by hand or using computer-aided design (CAD) of apparel. -Write specifications such as color schemes, construction, material types, and accessory requirements. -Liaise closely with sales, buying and production teams on an ongoing basis to ensure the item suits the customer, market and price points. -Source, select and buy fabrics, trims, fastenings and embellishments. -Work with Product Development and Tech Design for technical packages. -Identify target markets for designs, looking at factors such as age, gender, and socioeconomic status. -Shop the market for fresh new ideas, in order to analyze or predict trends in fabrics, colours and shapes, and pass on ideas/information to Design Director. -Research development ideas through regular meetings with Guess, Inc. local and overseas vendors.
