Hayley Stringer: in Mill Valley, CA

I worked with the founder of the company to assist with daily tasks associated with running a business. This includes preparing shipments, studio build-outs, and product line expansion ideation. The primary project I worked on was designing a booth for a trade show which I then attended.

I developed skills in technical drawing, product research, and vendor communication. Primarily I worked on Adobe Illustrator drawings of garden products to be sent out to vendors for production. Through this experience I gained exposure to design in the corporate world. Relevant Courses Intro to Shoemaking Learning the process of building bespoke shoes. First project is to construct a single shoe with focus on techniques and process. Second project is to make a pair building upon first shoe with more focus on experimentation. Knitted Fabrics Using manual double bed knitting machines to learn construction techniques, knit structures and shaping. Focus on development of swatches throughout the semester to work towards a final carefully researched and considered fully fashioned work. Soft Goods Introduction to construction methods and order of operations in making soft goods products. Majority of course spent on a single project with attention to iteration and refinement.
