Mike Oates Kealey: Content Creator

I specialize in maintaining camera and production equipment while keeping film productions in sync with tech needs. I familiarize and tech assist projects in production and on set. I maintain gear and teach crew and production best practices/technical skills.

I create prototype packaging and build quarterly showrooms designed to sell toys to big buyers like Target and Walmart. I am a part of this process from concept through creation. I operate under strict deadlines and deliver solid, quality designs.

I take on a variety of projects and see them from concept through delivery. I focus on video production, photography and web design. I offer video/web packages.

I create lighting aesthetics that illuminate video interviews to give professional, crisp images. My lighting technique gave the interviewee smooth, contoured facial lighting, while separating the background, giving depth, and highlighting the shot’s background; either the SF bay or LA downtown. I shoot these interviews quarterly, always delivering the utmost quality lighting.

I was responsible for setting up the entire lighting mood for the show. This includes building every lighting set up and creatively designing the premiere lighting effect for the shoot. On many of these shoots I would operate a lighting instrument to showcase the host’s presentation, while we moved throughout the home shooting their episode.

As a camera operator at the Vulture Magazine Festival, I was responsible for documenting a variety of Q and A’s with several TV show creators, stars and show runners. This was a single camera room, so I had to be meticulous with my camera operating. This was a two day event and I was shooting most of those two days.

I was responsible for the “A” camera department. This position included responsibilities such as maintaining camera equipment, documenting footage, tech assisting in the field, and keeping the camera dept. organized and efficient. I was also responsible for operating the third camera when the scene called for it.

At Baby Box Co, I edited together all of their parental instructional content. I edited video and web content. This required me to have a vast understanding and knowledge of Adobe Premiere. I worked as an in house video editor at Baby Box Co for 3 years.

I managed incoming video and audio files that needed to be logged off of cards and onto hardrives. Once offloaded, I took these files and converted them to a different codec. I always backed all of my information up to eliminate any possibility of loss. I made all of this video and audio highly organized so the editor had zero trouble finding what he/she needed.

I was a Camera Operator on multiple shoots throughout 2011. I documented a variety of lectures and training courses.

My department supported Director of Photography Shane Herlbut. My responsibilities included handling lens primes, marking film takes as a “clapper, transporting film between dark room and set, miscellaneous film-related support. I was present for the infamous “Christian Bale Terminator Salvation Incident.” I was hiding behind my camera department cart 20ft. away.
