Self employed
Freelance Photographer | 05/2016 - 02/2018
Working for Glimpses of Guam as a Freelance Photographer is exciting. In this position you can network and meet plenty of fresh faces and business contacts. No two days are the same. One day I'm shooting the Micronesian Mall Macy's Ribbon Cutting Event, and the next, I'm photographing guests of the Red Cross Red Ball Suit and Tie Event. To succeed and grow to this point I have had to put myself out there in the industry and try many things. As they say, photographers need not only be creative but talented. So I never stop searching for inspiration.
As for technical schools, I have experience studying the undergraduate Radio Television and Film Program of San Jose State University. These courses, seminars and workshops focused on specific aspects of photography, such as shooting in black and white, using a digital camera and working with photo editing software.
Now as I am seeking clients, having a portfolio of high-quality work is important to me. You can check out some of my work at ColinpKirk.com. In addition, you can check out some of my recent work in the Media section of my Profile. Originally, I started my careers as apprentices for veteran photog of the KUAM news Station located on the Island of Guam. While there, they trained them in both the technical and creative aspects of the profession.
